Zugspitze-X – riding the highest mountain in Germany

Zugspitze-X

This video shows Max Schumann riding from the summit of the Zugspitze down to the Knörrhütte and was filmed in October 2011. Max began his descent at about 7am and just about got to the bottom before any hikers arrived.

Some of the very technical sections, such as the rock slab beside the hut and some steep steps lower down were probably ridden for the first time that day.

The Zugspitze, at 2,962 m (9,718 ft) above sea level, is the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains as well as the highest mountain in Germany. It lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the border between Germany and Austria runs over its western summit.
