Introduce yourself and Tell us about your business.

My name is Griffin Sinn and I am the Co-Founder and CEO of CLOAK’D. I have built the company from the ground up through designing, prototyping, and patenting our first product, the CLOAK’D Saddle Bag. The saddle bag is a one-of-a-kind as it comes with a built-in waterproof seat cover, that is always ready to protect your bicycle saddle from the elements.


What were the initial difficulties you faced when starting and how did you overcome them?

The challenges began from the moment I thought of CLOAK’D. I had to get over the fear of not really knowing how to create something from nothing and not letting the unknown financial questions stop me from pursuing my dreams. Much like all of the challenges CLOAK’D has presented, it was hard work and determination that has helped me overcome them. That’s the cookie cutter answer, but it’s the truth. Knowing that challenges are going to arise and having the passion to overcome them can take you further than you might think. Stay positive!

What ignited the spark in you to start this business venture?

I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship. I began buying and selling wholesale goods at the age of 12 and it was clear to me that I had a passion for all things entrepreneurship. With the technology and available resources of today there has never been a better time to own a business.

How is your company different from the competition?

I believe there are three main concerns consumers have when purchasing a product, which is the price, customer service, and quality. A lot of companies can get two out of three, but we are striving to make good on all three plus one more, innovation. Innovation is what sets CLOAK’D apart from the competition as we are working to solve everyday consumer problems by creating the first of its kind products.

What are your businesses strengths and weaknesses? How do you plan to convert the weaknesses into strengths?

Our biggest strength is our ability to communicate. Communication between our team members and more importantly our customers is the very foundation of our business. Most importantly, successfully communicating means we have to be effectively listening. We actively listen to everyone’s feedback and recommendations on our products and/or our efforts to develop the best products and in the most effective and efficient way possible for both our consumers and ourselves.

We can become better recognized as a brand name in bicycle accessories. We are at the very beginning stages of creating this company, so we are doing everything possible to get our name out there and our brand recognized.

Provide us with some insight on how it feels to be an entrepreneur versus an employee?

I get an opportunity to wear a lot of different hats because we are currently only a team of two. In one day I can perform the duties of CEO, accountant, sales representative, marketing personnel, engineer, and so on. I don’t know how many organizations I could work with to get all of the experience CLOAK’D has provided, but I am sure they would be far and few between.

What is your future goal for the company? How far do you want to take it?

We are in this because we love what we do. The goals are everlasting and we want to take it as far as possible. I hope to interview again in 50 years telling you we can’t wait for the next 50!

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

Drive, creativity, and positivity.

How do you market your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
We use every type of social media available. In addition, we have been writing on forums, blogging, and have just recently reached out to professional marketers to learn more about building our brand. Since we have just recently come to market with our first product, this is something we strive to get better at and learn more about each day.

How do you build a successful customer base?

Look back at questions four and five. We will take care of our customers in every way possible. We are also excited to grow to a point where we can give back to our communities and charities. Staying driven and true to our ethics, we believe people will get behind us and our products.

Who has been your greatest inspiration?

It’s really impossible to name just one. Everyone who has ever overcome a challenge or faced their fears is an inspiration to us. I look for success stories every single day to help drive and motivate our team. It’s something we have to constantly think about and share to become successful.
