YZF-R1M race motorcycle is a special version of the R1, and comes with even higher factory specification – enabling every racer and track rider to discover their true potential.
6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) offers controlability over traction, slides, front wheel lift, braking and launches. Its Communication Control Unit with GPS allows to look at lap times and other running data on an Android-based tablet – and R1M’s Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) delivers ultimate handling.
With its 200PS crossplane engine, short wheelbase chassis, 3D control electronics and exclusive carbon bodywork, R1M brings M1-derived factory-bike technology to private owners.
Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS)
The Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) takes data from the 6-axis IMU, enabling its Suspension Control Unit (SCU) to make adjustments to the fork and shock settings. By adapting to conditions, the ERS enhances stability during braking by reducing fork diving – as well as giving improved control and increased traction when exiting corners.
Communication Control Unit (CCU)
The Communication Control Unit (CCU) has a data logging function that allows riders to record a wide range of running data, including lap times, speed, throttle position, GPS tracking, lean angle and more. It can also be used to communicate with the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) system when viewing, downloading or changing the running modes.
YZR-M1-derived carbon bodywork
With its central forced air intake and high screen, the R1M’s lightweight carbon bodywork has an unmistakable M1 race bike silhouette. Compact LED headlights are ‘hidden’ either side of the air intake to emphasize the race DNA, while twin LED position lights give this superbike a truly unique face.
M1-derived 200PS crossplane engine
The R1M is powered by a 998cc crossplane 4 cylinder 4-valve engine that develops 200PS – without ram air pressurization. Derived from our winning YZR-M1 MotoGP bike, its crossplane crankshaft gives an uneven 270° – 180° – 90° – 180° firing sequence for high levels of linear torque.
6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
A highly sophisticated 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) delivers precise data on every aspect of running machine attitude to the ECU – which activates the R1M’s electronic control technology, including its MotoGP-derived banking angle sensitive rear wheel Slide Control System (SCS) and Traction Control System (TCS).
Equipped with a banking angle sensitive rear wheel Slide Control System (SCS) and Traction Control System (TCS) – as well as a Front LIFt control system (LIF) in addition to a Launch Control System (LCS) and Quick Shift System (QSS), the R1M’s electronic control technology enables every rider to attain their full potential on the track.
ABS with Unified Brake System
The R1M’s dual 320mm front discs and monoblock calipers – as well as the 220mm rear disc – are equipped with a sophisticated banking sensitive ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as well as Yamaha’s Unified Brake System that enable the rider to achieve high levels of controllability in different circuit or road situations.
Compact Deltabox chassis
The aluminium Deltabox frame features a long upward-truss type swingarm and magnesium rear frame, underlining the R1M’s strong M1 race bike heritage. The short 1,405mm wheelbase chassis and the low wet weight of just 200kg give the R1M a high level of agility and responsiveness for outstanding race and track performance.
