The motorbike with the dynamic performance of a racer, the upright seat position of an adventure machine and the endurance of a tourer. The BMW S 1000 XR combines the best aspects of all these worlds to create BMW Motorrad’s first adventure sports bike: perfect for anyone who wants performance and comfort in one bike.
Design: the perfect fusion.
The S 1000 XR is exceptional – and that’s exactly how it looks. With its synthesis of sports, touring and adventure, it also combines the visual characteristics and qualities of each of these categories, making it one impressive looking bike. The sporty shape and typical BMW S 1000 RR Splitface emphasise its supersports influence, while its characteristic flyline, “beak” and relatively long spring travel reflect the look and ergonomics of the GS series. Wherever the S 1000 XR rolls up, it’s sure to turn heads.
Technology: power meets innovation.
The powerful, four-cylinder series motor delivers a huge 118 kW (160 hp) at 11,000 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 112 Nm at 9,250 rpm. But it’s more than just the sporty thrills that impress with the S 1000 XR – the innovative technology also offers a high level of comfort and safety. The S 1000 XR comes with two selectable driving modes as standard − “Rain” and “Road” – allowing drivers to adapt optimally to the driving conditions. The standard ASC (Automatic Stability Control) ensures a high level of driving safety based on optimum traction. In short, the S 1000 XR can do everything – from tearing along winding country roads to tours for two with full luggage.
Equipment: customised and comprehensive.
As an adventure sports bike, the S 1000 XR is highly versatile by its very nature, and can be supplied with a range of optional extras and accessories for perfect adaptation to the rider’s individual preferences. What’s more, the “Dynamic” and “Touring” equipment packages offer useful groupings of individual extras that can make the vehicle even more dynamic and comfortable to suit the rider’s preferences and driving style.
Dynamic and Touring – the two equipment packages for the S 1000 XR.
In addition to the wide range of individual configuration options, BMW Motorrad has also put together two different equipment packages for the S 1000 XR – Dynamic and Touring. These include individual options that lend the S 1000 XR a special character.
Get your racer’s heart beating even faster.
The Dynamic package.
The S 1000 XR has sporting character in its genes. But the Dynamic package can give an impressive extra boost to its sportiness and dynamics. The Shift Assistant Pro reduces clutch use to a minimum by allowing you to shift gears without the clutch. The ABS Pro improves stability and guarantees maximum braking safety, even on bends or when tilted. In addition to this, the LED turn indicators also reflect the bike’s sporting character. The Dynamic package includes all of the following options:
• Pro driving modes (ABS Pro, DTC, plus “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro” driving modes)
• Pro shift assistant
• Cruise control
• LED turn indicators
For greater comfort and perfect tour endurance on any road.
The Touring package.
The Touring package is the perfect option for long, relaxed trips on your own or with a companion. The luggage carrier and case holder make it easy to attach a case and topcase. The heated grips also improve passive safety on cold days, and together with the navigation preparation make your journey more comfortable and convenient. The proven Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) gives you optimum damping action and driving comfort on any road conditions. The Touring package includes the following individual components:
• Dynamic ESA
• Heated grips
• Pannier mountings
• Navigation device preparation incl. Multi-Controller
• Centre stand
